Parent and Child

Family Therapy
The Institute for Children and Families believes in intensive treatment offering a specialized interweaving of treatment modalities to incorporate the entire family. This delicate interweaving of services allows therapists and the family to address the very core of the child's disorders, allowing for more genuine relationships within the family. The Institute for Children and Families does not believe in treating only the symptoms related to anxiety, trauma and attachment disorders. We do not believe in treating a child in isolation from his or her family.

Couples Therapy
The Institute for Children and Families constantly re-assesses a child's progress. Undoubtedly, this is difficult and challenging work. Oftentimes we see couples struggling to "keep it together" due to our children's mastery of triangulation -- pitting one parent against the other. We assist couples in finding a therapist at or through another agency (who is well-versed in attachment and trauma) to assist them in healing their own relationship so they may be more empowered in affecting the healing of their child.

Sibling Therapy
If you have other birth or adopted children in your home, it is important to check with them. Remember, these disorders are disruptive and can wreak havoc on siblings. We encourage parents to bring siblings in to the Institute periodically to assess their specific needs and appropriate interventions. Parents Involved Network (PIN) offers sibling groups several times each year. You can contact the Institute for more information or log on to the PIN web site at www.pinofpa.org.
