Five Books to Read
For Professionals and For Parents:
ICF wants to be a referral source for you!! Children with
trauma and attachment issues are difficult and require a lot
of energy. The intensity of treatment, as well as the
complexity of these disorders, demand that we call on other
parents and professional resources when needed. We encourage
you to do the same.
For example, ICF is unable to address issues of Sensory
Integration without the expertise of those professionals
trained in this therapy. Therefore, we may refer clients
outside ICF. If you are uncertain or stuck with how to
approach your child's or client's trauma, anxiety and
attachment issues, please call on us at 610-431-9508. We are
here to help. ICF also offers services to schools and we
also have a parent coaching program.
Here are some specific books ICF recommends you read to
educate and familiarize yourselves with trauma and
attachment disorders:
- Becoming a Family
by Dr. Lark Eshleman
- Building the Bonds
of Attachment by Daniel Hughes
- Parenting the Hurt
Child by Greg Keck and Regina Kupecky
- Holding Time by
Martha Welch, MD
- Healing the
Hardware of the Soul by Daniel Amen
