Privacy Policy
Your privacy on the Internet is of the utmost importance to us. We want to make your experience online satisfying and safe. Because we gather certain types of information about visitors, we feel you should fully understand the terms and conditions surrounding the capture and use of that information. This privacy statement discloses what information we gather and how we use it.
We gather these two types of information about users:

Information that users provide through optional, voluntary submissions. These are voluntary submissions to receive our electronic newsletters, to participate in our forums, to receive e-mail, to make purchases of products and services provided by the Institute, to make donations and to participate in polls and surveys.

Information gathered through aggregate tracking information derived mainly by tallying page views throughout the site. This information allows us to better tailor our content to readers' needs and to help potential advertisers and sponsors better understand the demographics of our audience.

We use personal information we collect from you only within our organization and as a means of providing you with the best possible services. We will NOT sell any form of personal information about our clients to any third party. Under no circumstances do we divulge any information about an individual user to a third party, unless required by law or legal process necessary to protect the safety of users or the public or essential to complete commercial transactions voluntarily initiated by the user.

The Institute for Children and Families offers the following services, which require some type of voluntary submission of personal information by users:

We may offer a free electronic newsletter to users. Users may remove themselves from this mailing list by following the link in every newsletter that points users to the subscription management page of the e-mail solicitation. Users can also decline to subscribe to the newsletters at the time of registration.

We may offer a free poll and/or survey from time-to-time. Users may remove themselves from this survey by following the link in every survey page that points users to exit the survey solicitation. Users can also decline to participate in the survey at the time of registration.

We may offer an online store. Users may remove themselves from divulging any information to this portion of this site by declining to participate in this portion of the site or make any purchases. If purchases are made, the Institute is required to collect personal information to complete the sale as well as comply with applicable laws.

The Institute currently offers access to fee-based, members-only discussion forums. We gather the e-mail addresses of users who voluntarily subscribe to either service. Users who subscribe to the discussion forums must complete an application form that requires disclosure of personal information to the Institute, as required by law. Users may remove themselves from this forum by following the link in the discussion forum pages that points users to the subscription management page of the forum. Users can also decline to participate in the forums at the time of registration.

The Institute solicits donations to support its 503(c) charitable activities. Users who donate to the Institute must complete a form that requires disclosure of personal information to the Institute so that the Institute can comply with the Internal Revenue Code.

Our site provides users the opportunity to opt-out of receiving communications from us at the point where we request information about the visitor. You may request to be removed from our mailing list by sending an email to webmaster@instituteforchildren.com, with REMOVE in the subject line. You may also request to be removed from our discussion forums by sending an email to operations@instituteforchildren.com, with REMOVE in the subject line.
